Funnies for Monday – We Need Them

Monday, September 28th, 2009

These quotes are from actual employee performance evaluations. My boss passed them out to us on Friday for a little mirthness. They were out of the Montana Livestock Auction newsletter.

  1. Since my last report, this employee has reached rock bottom and has started to dig.
  2. I would not allow this employee to breed.

  13. He doesn’t have ulcers, but he’s a carrier.
  14. I would like to go hunting with him sometime.
  15. He’s been working with glue too much.
  16. He would argue with a signpost.
  17. He brings a lot of joy whenever he leaves the room.
  18. When his IQ reaches 50, he should sell.
  19. If you see two people talking and one looks bored, he’s the other one.

  23. Gates are down, the lights are flashing, but the train isn’t coming.

  26. If you gave him a penny for his thoughts, you’d get change.
  27. If you stand close enough to him, you can hear the ocean.

On-Line Information Resource

Friday, September 25th, 2009

I love the name of this website. It has all kinds of short advice articles for teens to seniors and in between. Here’s a link to the site’s article on how to speed up your computer (Ask Deb).

It has articles on careers, best teen flix, health, gardening (how to I make my lawn green?), all sorts of stuff. The Miscellaneous page is great!

But I better quit messing around with all this useful trivia and get back to work.

2010 Events Scheduling

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Well, folks, I know it really can’t be possible, but 2010 is just around the corner.  Today is the first day of fall, and we are heading into the (gasp!) holiday season.  Publications are getting ready to print their annual calendars, and we want our local events on as many as we can get.  So, we need to decide when we want to have what.

Here are the events that we have:

  • Father’s Day Fly in at Twin Bridges Airport - June 19 and 20
  • FFFF and Alumni Weekend - July 24 and 25
  • Sheridan Festival and Car Show - July 30 and 31
  • Madison/Jefferson County Fair - August 11 - 15
  • Sheridan Christmas Stroll and Twin Bridges Christmas Stroll - somewhere around December 1 through 3?

Does anyone have any input or comment?

Horizons Steering Committee Meets

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

We met yesterday to get working on the Strategic Plan for the Twin Bridges Community.  We also had a visitor, Kathryn Nielson. Kathryn brought us up to speed on the project that she has been working on, getting a Senior Center in Twin Bridges.  Kathryn has been working with the Seniors and coordinating with grant writers and governmental representatives trying to get this thing off the ground.  We offered Kathryn help, and shared with her the feedback we got from our surveys.  Our community wants a Community Center.  It seems that we have the same goals in mind, and they just need some integration.  Kathryn was going to talk to her work group last night, and find out what the Horizons group can do for them.  I am excited to see this project get off the ground.  Coincidentally, it led us right into working on our strategic plan.  We had to put our Vision Statement into tangible goals with timeline goals.  Wow, daunting.  However, we did have a couple of great example documents provided by Tara Mastel, so that helped a lot.

 Our strategies are

  1. Twin Bridges community will provide  recreational and educational and service opportunities for children, seniors and everyone in between
  2. Twin Bridges has many opportunities for prosperity
  3. We will maintain a safe, relaxed, friendly family oriented community

Now we have to work on what projects fit under what strategies, and which partners are out there that need help getting things done.  This is really exciting.  What do you guys think?

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

This evening’s School Board meeting shouldn’t be too lengthy (7pm, Montana Room). Please click here for a copy of the agenda. If the meeting is as brief as anticipated, attendees can catch most of the Powderpuff football game that starts at 7:30pm.
